Court Internship
What is the Summer Court Internship Program?
This two-week program features educational sessions led by judicial officers, court commissioners, partner agencies, court staff and other professionals involved in the judicial process. Throughout the program, interns will observe courtroom proceedings across major case types including Criminal, Civil, Family Law, Probate, Traffic, Self-Help, and Jury Services. This program provides structured exposure to courtroom procedures, legal terminology and courthouse operations through discussions and observation. Interns will also learn how the court collaborates with justice partners such as Probation, Public Defenders, District Attorney Office, Colusa County Sheriff’s Department, as well as other community organizations. Participants will have opportunities to engage with key court stakeholders including judicial officers, commissioners, attorneys, partner agencies, and court staff.
Note: This is an observational and educational program and does not include hands-on or work-based duties.

Eligibility
- College and/or law students, with an interest in law, the court system, public service, criminal justice, or government are encouraged to apply.

Dress Code
- Participants are expected to dress in business casual attire appropriate for a professional courthouse setting. Clothing should be neat, modest, and respectful of the court environment.
